to draw in the new recruits?!
Recruitment costs can be crippling for a small business and front-end developers are in high demand. If you can’t attract them with flashy ads and huge corporate packages, but know you can offer them a fab job in a brilliant environment, then how do you attract their attention?
Now, we may be a little biased here at the eight-(wo)man strong team of Rhizome PR, but we think there is far more to a job than glitzy corporate jargon (please never use the phrase ‘blue sky thinking’ in our presence). Being part of a fun organisation with quirky characters definitely makes Monday mornings a lot less painful!
So how did they do it..? Well firstly they coerced the HR director in taking a leading role, with promise of international stardom upon her debut. Friends and colleagues agreed to help out after hours with hair, make-up and essential cake baking. Fake blood was made from a Blue Peter-esque recipe of food colouring and golden syrup, and of course, copious amounts of beer were shipped in (being a zombie is thirsty work after all).
Total spend – less than £30. Result – over 1500 views on YouTube and a huge queue of talented developers wanting to work for
!
And the lesson of that story? When in doubt, make a zombie film. Oh, and be inventive, creative and exciting if those are the kind of people you want to recruit.
