Spelling errers

For a PR, spotting a spelling mistake after pressing send is a horrible, briefly heart stopping experience.

I assume.

Having the mind of Archimedes means I'd never do anything so stupid myself.

But I feel for others out there with their tiny pea brains as they try to make their way in the world of PR. Clumsily stumbling at every spelling hurdle like a drunken toddler.

So it was with interest that I read in the news about a survey from Mencap revealing that most Britons have a false impression of their own spelling ability.

Despite the coverage I read in the Huffington Post being a standard 'copy and paste press release' job (my personal editorial favorite and well done Mencap PR. Nice hit.) it's pretty worrying. Technology has seemingly meant we're unable to spell those tricksy words like 'definitely' and 'separate' and 'necessary'.

What will we do?

As a naturally slovenly person I've found some alternative to use instead:

For that dastardly little number 'definitely' replace with the infinitely superior 'no ifs or buts about it'.

For 'separate' why not choose the more dramatic 'cut off'.

And for 'necessary' what about 'elemental'...

I'd like to see more creativity not a knee-jerk reactive cry for better education! Learning is never the answer surely.

After all we are working in the Mediaaaah.
