Celebrating 50 years since the launch of the first Sindy doll in 1963, Sindy owners Pedigree Toys came to us to help publicise this landmark as they search for a partner to help develop the range.
Like a girl-next-door Dorian Grey (minus the terrifying portrait and evil and the like) the Sindy doll has remained an early teen throughout the years, serving as a friend, confidante and cherished toy for generations of young girls.
Dominating the fashion doll market in the UK, Sindy's outfits have reflected changing fashions over the years. Hemlines have risen and fallen, leg warmers have been donned, and flares have come full circle.
Looking through the images has been a bit of a nostalgia fest in the office and has sent me into yet another vintage clothing obsession, which I hope will be less expensive than the last...
The response has been amazing with the BBC running a 'Your Memories' feature and Sindy even popping up on the Breakfast sofa! You name the paper and Sindy was in it. Take that Barbie!
